Experience and Track Record
Nicolás joined MetaDocencia in its first week in March 2020. He currently shares the general coordination and chairs the Advisory Committee.
Nicolás is a tenured Adjunct Researcher at the National Research Council in Argentina (CONICET) and a member of the Structural Bioinformatics Group at the National University of Quilmes (UNQ, Buenos Aires, Argentina). His research focuses on understanding the structural nature of proteins, their evolutionary relationships, and their interactions in biological systems. He is a co-author of numerous scientific articles and book chapters oriented to science communication.
He was secretary of the Argentine Association of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (A2B2C) from 2017 to 2024. and co-founded the Regional Group of Bioinformatics Students in Argentina (RSG-Argentina) in 2010. In these roles, he promoted the organization of conferences, the creation of professional networks, and the delivery of technical and pedagogical training courses. He currently serves on the advisory committees for ReSA, OLS, and Dryad.
Since 2008 he has been teaching undergraduate, postgraduate and extension courses, both in person and virtual, at different educational institutions and also for communities of practice. He is certified as instructor and trainer for The Carpentries. He is currently pursuing a Specialization in Virtual Education at UNQ.
